Sometimes it is hard for me to show proof that simplicity works on a large scale. The other day, I was reviewing my book and reread one of my favorite quotes, “Everything should be as simple as possible…but not simpler” by Albert Einstein. It hit me that the reason Einstein was famous was because he believed in and practiced simplicity. Many famous thinkers and inventors have come before and after Einstein, but he is arguably the world’s most famous thinker because his simplicity made him accessible to the everyday man. He didn’t talk down to people less intelligent than him. That in itself is proof simple works!
Other great quotes on simplicity from Einstein include:
- “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree it will live its while life believing it is stupid.”
- “If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough.”
